India and France have strengthened their innovation partnership as Union Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted new opportunities in technology, investment and emerging sectors during engagements in Nice. The India-France Innovation Roadmap 2030 aims to boost cooperation in critical technologies, research, economic growth and sustainable development.
Concluding a day of official engagements in Nice on Monday, Goyal hosted a high-level dinner attended by government representatives, business leaders, investors and members of the innovation ecosystem. The event was held in the presence of Nice Mayor Eric Ciotti and brought together key stakeholders from both countries to discuss future collaboration and emerging opportunities.
Speaking about the gathering, Goyal said that the event, held during the India-France Year of Innovation, provided an important platform for exchanging ideas and identifying new avenues of cooperation across trade, technology and emerging sectors. He noted that discussions focused on strengthening partnerships and exploring innovative solutions capable of driving economic growth and technological progress.
According to the government, India’s Developed India 2047 vision and France’s France 2030 strategy present significant areas of convergence, creating a strong foundation for a future-oriented innovation partnership. The collaboration is expected to open new investment opportunities in disruptive technologies and innovation-driven industries, further strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
To advance bilateral cooperation, India and France have adopted the India-France Innovation Roadmap 2030. The framework is designed to enhance collaboration in critical and emerging technologies, strengthen trusted technology ecosystems, expand academic and research exchanges, and deliver tangible benefits for citizens, environmental sustainability and economic development.
The government emphasized that both countries view innovation as a crucial driver of economic resilience, sustainable development, strategic autonomy and technological sovereignty. A stronger innovation partnership is expected to unlock the full potential of both nations while contributing to solutions for a range of global challenges.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the visit to Nice resulted in several important bilateral outcomes, particularly in the fields of innovation and future technologies. During his visit to France, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron, focusing on expanding cooperation in defence, technology, space, security, counter-terrorism and innovation.
The growing alignment between India’s long-term development goals and France’s innovation agenda marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations.
